Taguchi Tomoki - Yatsuo no Tsubaki Art Print

Yatsuo no Tsubaki by Taguchi Tomoki shows a group of white birds moving across a wide field of textured blue, with rows of small wave-like marks rising from the lower corners. A few birds sit closer to the water, while others are spaced higher across the page, giving the image a light, open feeling. The worn texture of the blue is especially beautiful here, with patches of the paper showing through and adding to the character of the original print. 

Yatsuo no tsubaki comes from a Japanese design book collecting older decorative motifs from temples including Horyuji and Todaiji, with many of the designs based on plants and animals.
