New Year's Greeting with Anemones by Sientje Mesdag-van Houten shows five anemones in white, violet, and red, each with a dark, almost black center. The two purple flowers sit low in the group, their petals shading darker near the base. One white anemone is fully open at the center of the page, while a second, higher up, is still mostly closed. A dried, rust-brown flower at the top has lost most of its petals, reduced to a few thin brushstrokes. Pale green stems and leaves run down through the group, painted in the same quick, unblended washes as the flowers.
