"A Moorish Citadel" Art Print

A Moorish Citadel by Hercules Brabazon Brabazon looks up toward a pale fortress set against dark green hills. Small figures gather along the path below, painted in quick touches of black, white, and red, while the walls rise above them in broad washes of cream and grey. Brabazon leaves many details loose, letting the shapes of the citadel, rocky ground, and surrounding landscape come through with just a few confident strokes. 

Hercules Brabazon Brabazon was a British watercolorist who traveled widely through Europe and North Africa. He became known for loose, atmospheric watercolors and was influenced by artists including J. M. W. Turner. He did not begin exhibiting publicly until later in life, when friends including John Singer Sargent encouraged him to show his work.
