Tigers Yatsuo no Tsubaki by Taguchi Tomoki pairs two detailed tiger motifs on a warm ivory ground. At the top, two striped tigers curl around one another in a circular form, their open mouths picked out with flashes of red. Below, a second motif is built from fine, leaf-like lines around a small flower shape. The heavy black stripes and sharp expressions of the tigers contrast with the much lighter drawing underneath, while the Japanese inscriptions remain visible along the right side of the page.
