"Château de Chillon" Art Print

Château de Chillon by Hercules Brabazon Brabazon shows the famous Swiss castle sitting at the edge of Lake Geneva, softened into washes of pale blue, lavender, cream, and grey. Smoke rises above the roofline and dissolves into the hazy sky, while the castle’s reflection stretches loosely across the water below. Brabazon leaves much of the page open, letting the lake and sky blend together around the small cluster of buildings. 

Hercules Brabazon Brabazon was a British watercolorist born in Paris in 1821. He traveled extensively through Europe, North Africa, and India, painting as he went, and was especially admired for his loose handling of watercolor and light. He did not begin exhibiting publicly until later in life, encouraged by artist friends including John Singer Sargent.
